Summer’s Here!

“The solstice comes in June and why? The sun is highest in the sky.”

This old saying tells the short version of an old astronomical observation – the summer solstice. On June 21, the sun will be at its furthest point north of the equator here in the Northern Hemisphere. The result of this is the longest period of daylight compared to darkness throughout the year. Summer officially starts on this day, even though the days start getting shorter.

When the winter solstice hits in Bowling Green;, the opposite will transpire. But who wants to dwell on that? We would rather live in the moment with these warm summer days. Stay safe and enjoy every bit of daylight that you can. Enjoy your summer!
